I close my sleepy eyes
as another half-year dies
drowning out the voices
till all I hear are voices
eyelids changing color too
from black to red to blue
far away the sunlight
just looking for some sunlight
In your summer eyes
your nonchalance belies
a meloncholy sadness
brought on by the madness
You sleep to kill your dreams
still some drift through the seams
wide awake at midnight
wishing you were alright
My house is dimly lit
coming home at five to sit
too tired to have fun
out its ninety in the sun
melting ice inside the bowl
till all I have to hold
are your sleepy summer eyes
as another half-year dies
