the city breathes its heavy breathe on us

Surrounded by the hot exhale of life and death
i slide your blush from out of these wet clothes.
The smokestacks touch the air and touch it black
the city kills another man again
                      while soft and unsure
                                    you drink my love
            damp and gasping
cars trundle by on the overpass, overhead,
                             cold and
about someone else - about something else; not here.
they drive into the mist and dissappear.
down roads that take us laughing to their graves
and they in wet turf didnt notice us.
